The images form part of a project that addresses fragility as a fundamental condition of contemporary existence. The series unfolds in the former urban site of the Formula 1 circuit in Valencia, now transformed into a residual space: a territory of transit between established neighbourhoods and, at the same time, a place of vital suspension for those who inhabit it temporarily. In this context, Spanish citizens and immigrants from diverse backgrounds converge, revealing a landscape marked by precarity and social vulnerability. What stroke me during my conversations with the residents was their dignity as builders despite the misery of their living conditions. They are constructing their own homes with bare hands, with the material available, pallets, plastic, and with found objects.
The project began in April 2026 as a process of slow, sustained engagement with the territory and its inhabitants, as well as with the precarious architectures of the dwellings they build with their own hands. The work centres on the dignity of these everyday gestures of resistance: building, inhabiting and sustaining life with minimal materials and limited resources. Through encounters and interviews, narratives emerge shaped by health issues, the impossibility of accessing housing within the formal market and a lack of resources, but also by the persistence of hope and the projection of a possible future despite adverse conditions.

Las imágenes se inscriben en un proyecto que aborda la fragilidad como una condición fundamental de la existencia contemporánea. La serie se desarrolla en el antiguo recinto urbano de la Fórmula 1 en Valencia, hoy transformado en un espacio residual: un territorio de tránsito entre barrios consolidados y, al mismo tiempo, un lugar de suspensión vital para quienes lo habitan de forma temporal. En este contexto convergen ciudadanos españoles e inmigrantes de diversas procedencias, haciendo visible un escenario marcado por la precariedad y la vulnerabilidad social. Lo que más me impactó durante mis conversaciones con los residentes fue su dignidad como constructores, a pesar de la miseria de sus condiciones de vida. Están construyendo sus propias viviendas con sus propias manos, con los materiales disponibles —palés, plástico y objetos encontrados.
El proyecto comenzó en abril de 2026 como un proceso de aproximación lenta y al territorio y a sus habitantes, así como a las arquitecturas precarias de las viviendas que estos construyen con sus propias manos. El trabajo se centra en la dignidad de estos gestos cotidianos de resistencia: construir, habitar y sostener la vida con materiales mínimos y recursos limitados. A partir de encuentros y entrevistas, emergen relatos atravesados por problemas de salud, la imposibilidad de acceder a una vivienda en el mercado formal y la carencia de recursos, pero también por la persistencia de la esperanza y la proyección de un futuro posible pese a las condiciones adversas.
